Fairy Wings

So this was an epic shoot with all the things to organize! Making the roses, each one took about half an hour to make, they are made out of paper and the stems are made from copper.

Becci made the amazing dress, we can't even imagine how long it must have taken, there are literally hundreds of beads and embellishments all sewn on by hand (epic epicness!) The wings are also just a brilliant work of art, we had to figure out how to attach them to the dress as they were separate but they went on quite easy in the end with the help of some cable ties... You can't see them tho, so it didn't spoil the overall look.

We took the inspiration for the props from the head piece, which is really sweet little heart beads on top of copper spirals. There are a lot of details in this shoot! We did want to also shoot it with a contrasting floor but we unfortunately didn't get it sorted out in time, so I think we are going to have to do it again :-)

Well, we've finally got our infinity wall installed, the top part anyway & the corner which was no easy thing to do, all those angles to work out! Now it's a little strange when you walk towards the infinity wall because you're not quite sure where it is, you end up walking with your hands in front of you so that you don't bump into it! It's like being in a blizzard! Hmmm wonder who will be the first to bump into it :-)

Waterfalls

We went out for the day took the kids off for a walk near Talybont, there were some lovely waterfalls but a lot of people around them so very hard to take any long exposure photos without someone getting in the way! Then because the route wasn't marked very well we took a wrong turn and missed out a lot of the falls (oops!) Next time download walking maps to mobile device or at least do some research.

Anyway we manage to find a great waterfall down in a ravine with no people around it because it was hard to get to, not much space for the tripod so it ended up standing in the water, yay for carbon fibre tripods. So this was a 30 second exposure.

How much photoshop do you do?

This is a question we get asked a lot! Sometime lots, sometimes very little...

Two photos in particular keep cropping up which both have hardly any photoshop editing at all, firstly this one.

Umbrella

All that was done were the levels, the Sunset was like this and the waist most people think this is created in photoshop, no, it's a 20" corset and it is fully closed!

Reflection

This was over a minute exposure to get the really smooth effect on the water also the white balance is set to tungsten to give it more blue, it's not added in with photoshop. So very little photoshop, mostly in this one was just to remove some lens dust, a long exposure shows up every little minuscule grain of dust on the lens and sand in this case as the was taken from the beach.

A Nightmare in Whitchurch

There's a new exhibition on down at the Crown Arts Gallery, Whitchurch, Graham Humphreys who everyone recognises from 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' a brilliant illustrator & graphic designer.

We went down & took some photos of the opening night. Got a few spooky shots :-) the art is an absolutely must see!

Time & Tide

So we went down to the coast on the weekend, the weather was absolutely stunning! We thought we'd take some sunset shots while we were down there, we got there about 6pm after collecting the kids from school, we were sitting outside the pub having a drink and then we realized that the Sun was setting in completely the wrong direction for the shot! Duh! We should have realized because we visit this place quite often. Anyway we resigned ourselves to getting no good shots this evening and carried on drinking..

Next morning we awoke to the most amazing colours in the sky, so we dived out of bed got dressed as quick as possible, no time to brush hair, drink tea or anything, got all the camera equipment together, we went to unlock the door but it would not open. So there we were trapped in our room, while outside the beautiful sunrise was immanent.

After some frantic phoning around we managed to hold of our daughter in the next room along, we passed the key under the door to her and hoped that it would open from the other side, by some weird kind of luck (or something) it did! We all scurried off to the beach.

It actually seemed that we had been trapped in our room for a lifetime but on the beach the Sun still had not risen above the horizon. So camera on tripod and got taking some photos, the tide was on it's way in so had to keep grabbing the camera away from being splashed, I got a bit wet! Then we noticed a Dogfish had been washed up on the beach, it's always great to have something interesting in the foreground so we shot some of it before we finally got beaten away by the tide.

Here's a little tip for you, next time you're away and you don't have a bottle opener to open up your Tiger Beer, do not use your room key!

Just finished updating our website, there are a lot of new photos on now, hadn't done an update in a while because I've been so busy! So lots of new photos in the Main Galleries and also I have updated The Secret Galleries including the Art Nouveau style nudes we did with Pixie :-) :-)

Beautiful Mesta, this is truly one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in, it's a medieval village on the island of Chios in Greece. The whole place was built as a maze to stop the pirates from finding the centre of the village, it's very easy to get lost there. There is absolutely no traffic because all the streets are so narrow, it's so peaceful.

Last week we had a shoot with Pixie, the concept was turn her into an Art Nouveau figurine :-) ...Who would know that Pixie would be such a perfectionist with the body make-up? Two hours later Pixie was finally happy that she was all evenly covered and we shot some photos of her, we had a few props, a little plinth for her to stand on, a ball and some drapey fabric.

We got some great shots but unfortunately we can't post them on this blog because it is for all ages.. But you can see some of them on our Flickr Photostream! Make sure you are over 18 and not allergic to nudity before you agree or you should head straight for the kittens *mew!*

Only edited a few so far as the graphic card has gone and fried itself :-(

We took these the other night & yes they are real! Our kitty loves coming for a walk with us so we decided to get him in the shot (he's so cute!) it was a bonus when he gave me a kitty snug. Kev managed to get a few great shots. So maybe I did look silly going for a walk in cat ears and a 20" corset but it did make for a great silhouette! These were shot at sunset but I turned them black & white to give it a moonlit feel, also I have added a few stars for the wallpaper :-)

Me and Kev went for a walk on Saturday evening, the weather was absolutely gorgeous all day but as we went to walk out the door a massive thunder cloud appeared! So here we were walking over the fields, me in a summer dress shivering but Kev was OK he had jeans and a T on!

Anyway as we got towards the Oil Seed Rape field the sun started to emerge again and I stopped shivering :-) I think we got a few nice shots. This one I am posting now is one we just decided to do at the last minute as the Sunset was looking so lovely, the cat managed to sneak in too, he usually does!

Kev has given me his olde camera, his D200 so I stop steeling Ambers! :-) So I had a practice today but all the buttons are in different places and it's much more complicated. I wondered around outside for a while as it is gorgeous today, I got this nice one of some Daffodils, I really like the depth to it.

Then I came in to upload them onto the computer and Sala was on the bed with her paws in the up position so I took a few of her as well :-)

Also I have had to start watermarking our photos as they keep appearing on other websites with people claiming them to be their own! Naughty naughty!

Today Amber aka Glitterbug had to go to school dressed as a famous person for Red Nose Day. So she decided she wanted to be Lady Gaga for the day, Anna did her hair and make-up and found her an outfit to wear, which was a puffball skirt a bow top and a big belt to cinch it in with... We have been so so busy lately, so busy that I haven't updated this for ages! We have been busy working on the house, we finally got the walls plastered in the living room, not quite finished yet tho. We have got the undercoat on the walls (mostly) now we are just choosing the colours for the room so hopefully it will soon be finished, yay! Here is a before and so far shot...

We have got a model shoot planned for the end of the month so we will be updating the website shortly with some new images, until then it's wildlife and vegetation!

Hope everyone is having a great Xmas & playing nicely together.. Got myself a new lens for Xmas, from Ebay it was a bargain for that type of lens. For those interested in camera's it is a 50mm F. I.2 but it is purely manual focus so I'm gonna have to stay off the Xmas spirits if I want shots that aint fuzzy (like that's gonna happen). Being a F.1.2 it gives an amazing narrow depth of field, here is a shot I took yesterday to illustrate what I mean.

The Impossible Feat

Anna had this idea (And they are usually quite impossible! Well, nearly ;-)) So.... It was to photograph a Pointe Ballet Shoe balancing on top of a Champagne flute (See I told you!) Obviously someone had to be in the Pointe Shoe or it just wouldn't work. It was bad enough trying to photograph something that was see-through but trying to rig the balance up was quite tricky too.

This shot I am posting now is the result of our hard work and it is not photoshopped it is quite real.

Next time she wants me to photograph a black cat in a coal hole!

Me and Amber decided to do some seasonal photos with her new kitten, it wasn't too easy at all as Sala tried to eat the Santa hat we got her. It looked like she had actually eaten Santa Claus!

Sala decided that she would go head first into a Xmas stocking, turned round and then peeped out the top of it, so Amber grabbed a few photos of her. As she tried to eat the hat I decided to draw one on in photoshop :-)

It was such a gorgeous sunset the other evening, we really wanted to go out and take some photos, the frost on the trees and the gorgeous pastel colours of the sky were absolutely wonderful. Kev came in and he had been working outside all day and his fingers were just too frozen to press the doohickey(*technical term*)! Doh!

It's so so cold here at the moment, I couldn't even get into my car this morning because it was frozen shut! So I thought I'd post a lovely warming photo :-)

This was taken in 2009 when we were on holiday in Greece, it was about 36 Celsius and was about 7 O'clock in the evening, we waited for it to cool off a bit! Kev was practising his long exposures, this one is about 36 seconds...

Also I have updated the mobile site with a couple of new photos that you can use as wallpaper on your phone :-) One of them is the one above just slightly more cropped and I have also put a cute kitten one in too!

Today I'm sorting through 2010's photos! There are millions of them, they have to be put on to disk & on to another hard drive (to make sure there are 2 copies) because we don't want to risk losing them. This is going to take me a while ....Anyway while I was sorting through I came across this one.

We took this last year when there was a lot of heavy snow. It was about 3 feet deep and we were snowed in! Oh dear! So we thought we'd make the most of it, we got wrapped up warm and went out on the quad across the fields. We knew what shot we wanted & we were very careful not to make any tracks across this field, we had to get this shot of the sun setting and making the snow glisten.

It looked so gorgeous, we managed to get the shot (well as you see!) Kev got his fingers frozen cus he couldn't wear gloves to take the photo! But luckily we had got a lovely hip flask full of Whiskey to warm us up :-) :-) It was worth getting cold!

That's the way this kitten looks but now we have a new nickname for her! When we first got her we nicknamed her 'Puffball' because she hissed and spat at us so much, now we are calling her 'Mrs Bitey' because when you go to stroke her you get greeted with a set of small spiky teeth! We are hoping that she will grow out of this. How can anything that looks so cute be so vicious?

Mobile Site (Update)

I have finished doing the Mobile Site, it is designed to be easily veiwed on a mobile devise, I have made it really small and light weight so that it loads quickly. There are still links to the mains site and all the other links too. I have just put a few featured images on there and you can even use them for wallpaper on your phone! Yay!

Also I have just updated the Newest Images Gallery. I've put in those cute lil toxic mushrooms everyone loves that we found when we were out walking the other week, Fly Agaric and the other more toxic one Amanita Pantherina (Panther Cap) I think it looks like a sesame seed burger bun lid but I wouldn't want to try it!

This is from our shoot with Madame Bink, we had a right mad day going from one place to another, we managed to squeeze in a quick photo shoot in our hectic schedule. Wow! We had such a great surprise yesterday, Amber (aka Glitterbug) came to tell me that the short-list for the Young Photographer Of The Year Competition had been announced, she said she dare not look it was too scary to know whether she had made it. So I opened up my browser and went to their site... We looked through the 18 chosen photos, we thought she hadn't been picked but then, the very last photo was hers! OMG we were so amazed, this is the 1st competition she had ever entered for photography and a pretty big one at that, there were hundreds of entries and the competition is pretty intense in the 10 years and under category. Right... I have finished updating the new galleries! Yay! There are 2 extra now which are, Artistic Nudes and Erotica and I have linked them from our main page which is--> Here . They include some photos from our latest shoot with Madame Bink :-)

I haven't made the link too obvious, the galleries both include nudity so you have to be over 18 years of age, they are called The Secret Galleries. Also I have now got rid of the gallery section as it was getting very buggy and hard to maintain.

This is nearly what we did when this kitten arrived in a box one day! A hissing, spitting ball of fluff, a feral kitten, we did eventually manage to tame him.

We didn't just put Sala in a closed box to take this photo, we cut a hole in the back first so he could go in and out as he pleased and then he just did what he loves doing ...Attacking us!

New Gallery

I have been updating our website and I have added a new gallery! They are 'Artist Nudes' so you have to be over 18 to view them. I have not linked it from the main page yet so this is really a bit of a sneak preview :-) Note there will be another gallery too but I have not finished it yet.

Soon I will be getting rid or the 'Gallery' section as it is getting really buggy, it's not something that I designed it's just something I installed on the site and just seemed like a good idea at the time! But it just does not go with the rest of the site, and if something is wrong with it I can't fix it because someone else designed it..

Hang of this new blog! Doesn't seem to difficult to use so far, still can't believe I trashed the old one so thoroughly, I'm so clever!

Thought I'd post another photo, well, that's what we do, take photos! Here is one that Kev took of a water droplet perched on a petal. I really like this one, he took it with a long lens 70-300mm Nikon and zoomed it right in to get a very narrow depth of field, the only thing in focus is the reflection inside the droplet.Also he used a macro +4 conversion lens, cuz it is a macro shot. I think it's pretty cool and I also love the pastel colours...

Sorry everyone I fatally corrupted our old blog! Ooops! All I did was move a few files and there it was, blank, error error!
